How sharing works
Your archive is shared only with people you invite. Here is exactly who can see what.
Invited family
When you invite someone, they can see the memories in your archive that aren't marked private — including new ones, automatically. They can comment, add their own perspective, ask you questions and send you photos, which reach your timeline only if you approve them. Only you can edit your memories.
You can remove someone's access at any time from your account.
Private memories and letters
Mark any memory or letter private and it is hidden from your family. You can give a specific person access to your private memories if you want them to see those too.
Private memories can't be shared by link, and they never appear on a person's page.
A link to one memory
You can create a link to a single memory and choose who it opens for:
- Only family you've invited — they must be signed in with the account you invited.
- Anyone with the link — no account needed, and whoever has it can pass it on.
The shared page shows the memory's photos and story. Video and voice recordings are not included.
A link to one person's page
You can also share a page for one person in your family: it shows the memories they're in (never private ones), with photos, and updates itself as you add more. Anyone with this link can open it.
What a link can and can't do
- Links don't expire. They work until you turn them off.
- Turning a link off stops it working for everyone, straight away.
- Someone who opened a memory while signed in can save a copy to their own Memory Murals account. Turning the link off doesn't remove a copy they already saved — so only share by link what you're happy for that person to keep.
- Shared pages ask search engines not to list them. That's a request search engines generally honour, not a guarantee — anyone who has the link can still post it somewhere.
There are no public profiles, no public feed and no ads, and your memories are never sold. For how your data is stored and protected, see our privacy page.
